Dell Custom Esxi 6. 5 Iso
Dell specifics are probably similar to HP's, and are independent of the ESXi installation. I'll often take an HP custom ISO and update it via update manager. The HP agents/utilities remain unchanged. You should also be able to update the Dell bits independently as well. Look for a Dell 'offline bundle' containing the CIM package. We have been using the standard vSphere install ISO for a while now and havent had any issues. Im about to roll out 3 more vSphere hosts at the same time upgrade everything to vSphere 6.5. Is using the Dell custom ISO standard now days and recommended? Can I upgrade from a standard install of 6.0 to the Dell custom ISO or should I rebuild?
We have a Dell Poweredge server running ESXi 4.1 U1 that was installed using Dell's customized ESXi ISO. Hp 1055cm driver windows 10. Now we would like to upgrade to 4.1 U2 and upgrade any Dell specific bits that were installed.
I downloaded the 4.1 U2 Dell Customized ISO and tried to install over the existing installation but it doesn't look like I can do that non-destructively.
I tried upgrading using VMware's Update Manager, and that upgrades the ESXi installation, but I don't think it upgrades the Dell specific bits.

As far as the Dell management components are concerned, you should be able to add the Dell OpenManage Offline Bundle and VIB for ESXi to the Update Manager Patch Repository as a Host Extension, create a baseline for Host Extensions, attach the baseline to your host, scan the host for patches and upgrades, and use Update Manager to install/update the OpenManage bundle.
I believe the latest version of OpenManage for ESXi4 is 6.5.
joeqwertyjoeqwertyThe Dell specific bits are really just CIM and SNMP providers. You can use update manager to update this installation. If you choose to do something like upgrade to 5.0, then you should use a Dell ISO.

Run update manager as normal. Dell specifics are probably similar to HP's, and are independent of the ESXi installation. I'll often take an HP custom ISO and update it via update manager. The HP agents/utilities remain unchanged.

Hi all, My first post so apologies for not contributing to help others as yet, I do however intend to start doing so.
I have a 3 dell servers which I have inherited the responsibility to manage (I believe they are actually custom order 'cloud' systems based on 230 spec circa 2013/14). Each server has 96GB RAM, dual NIC, Xeon CPU and four 2TB drives in RAID 1 arrays on each controller. The servers run ESXi 5.5 with several guests on each which are relied upon quite heavily, so I would not want to do a fresh ESXi install on any.
I downloaded various VIB's for the PERC6/i controller but none seem to work- the storage section in vSphere client does not show any health status of the raid controller. I have tried various different versions etc but I am at a loss as to why nothing works; haven't had problems monitoring RAID status on other controllers in the past. Obviously it really is critical that they have some way to monitor the status of drives, as currently if a drive failed in either array there would be no way to tell without shutting down the host and checking bios.

Is have never installed a custom Dell ISO but I assume it is simply a build of ESXi with the addition of various Dell drivers for the given hardware. Is the only option to install a custom ESXi from Dell or is there a way to update the current ESXi with the relevant drivers? Or is there anywhere someon could recommend I look for the VIB's I need to monitor?
Many thanks to anyone who could provide any advice and apologies for such a long post.
