After restarting the computer, a black screen displays and Windows does not start. You must completely shut down the computer before Windows will start again. To fix this problem, download and install the BIOS update from the HP website using the following instructions.

You must be logged on as an administrator to install this update.

  1. If the computer is locked up, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer turns off.
  2. Turn on the computer and wait until Windows starts and completes loading. Then open your Web browser.
  3. Open the MS-7613 Motherboard BIOS Update on the HP website.

  5. At the File Download screen, click the Save button.
