Access Database Driver 2010

Oct 27, 2014  To install the Microsoft Access Database Engine 64-bit on a machine running Office 2010 32-bit: AccessDatabaseEngineX64.exe /passive In order to use the new driver from your AIMMS project for connecting to an Access database, you need to adjust the Data Source Name (.dsn) file associated with your Access database. As a result your settings in Access could well be miss-matched and as a result you not testing data engine speed but as per above only different settings for the given engine. In fact this might even mean the above buffer settings might not even take if you swapping the engine. I have both Access 2010 and 2013 installed on the same computer. Navigate to the drivers tab. If the Microsoft Access Driver lists.mdb and.accdb, then the correct drivers are installed. In this case, skip to Step 4. If the Microsoft Access Driver only lists.mdb, the necessary driver is not installed. If 64-bit Office 2010 is installed, the 2007 Access Database Engine must be installed. Access 2010 provides features for working with data that is stored in other programs. Create a new Access database that links to data in another file format You can use Access to open a file in another file format such as text, dBASE, or a spreadsheet. Access automatically creates an Access database and links the file for you. Start Access.

  • In the list of currently installed programs, select “Microsoft Access database engine 2010” and then click Remove or Add/Remove. If a dialog box appears, follow the instructions to remove the program. Click Yes or OK to confirm that you want to remove the program.
  • Furthermore, I've noticed that this set up may not work as you want it to for certain applications. I used to have both the Office 2007 32 bit ACE driver installed alongside the Office 2010 64 bit ACE Driver, and after SP 1 dropped, some applications were not able to use the 32 bit version any longer.
  • Option A: Install the 2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components. The 2007 Access database engine can read the same format, but didn’t have a 64-bit install. It doesn’t have the check to see what other products are on your machine and can co-exist peacefully with the 64-bit 2010 Access engine.

ODBC is an API that uses Structured Query Language (SQL) as the database access language. You can access a wide variety of database management systems (DBMSs) with the same ODBC source code that is directly incorporated into an application's source code. With the Microsoft ODBC Desktop Database Drivers, a user of an ODBC-enabled application can open, query, and update a desktop database through the ODBC interface.

The Microsoft ODBC Desktop Database Drivers are a Microsoft Jet-based set of ODBC drivers. Whereas Microsoft ODBC Desktop Database Drivers 2.0 include both 16-bit and 32-bit drivers, versions 3.0 and later include only 32-bit drivers that work on Windows 95 or later, Windows NT Workstation or Server version 4.0, Windows 2000 Professional, or Windows 2000 Server. These drivers provide access to the following types of data sources:

  • Microsoft Access

  • Microsoft Excel

  • Paradox

  • dBASE

  • Text

See Visual FoxPro ODBC Driver for detailed documentation about the Microsoft Visual FoxPro速 ODBC Driver.

Note

Access to other data sources, such as Lotus 1-2-3, Microsoft Exchange, and HTML, is enabled by installable ISAM (IISAM) drivers. For more information about these drivers, see 'Accessing External Data' in the Microsoft Jet Database Engine Programmer's Reference. ODBC Desktop Database Drivers 4.0 do not support Btrieve and EMS data formats.
